Riris
Support worker
Outside of work, what is an interest/hobby you have?
In my spare time I go to op shops looking for hidden gems, attend local community art events and explore nature parks and reserves. I also enjoy watching the NBA and playing basketball games against locals at different courts, I find that it is a great way to meet and connect with others over a short time.
What is one of the things you do supporting our participants that gives you the most satisfaction?
It feels very fulfilling to know that the support provided to our participants helps them to feel in control, independent and live more full and complete lives.
What is something that isn’t on your resume?
I go crazy for ramen. Also seem to spend a lot of time around cats yet I don’t own one.
What initially drew you to the career path of support worker?
My older brother and sister are both support workers in the industry and they both described how rewarding this line of work can be, which is what initially drew me in. Realising the positive impacts of just showing up and connecting with a client is what made me stay. Helping people is something that has always been appealing to me, and this line of work makes that possible in a natural sense.
