At Trusted Care, we’re inspired by the stories of those living with cystic fibrosis and are committed to including these individuals in our organisation. Therefore, we’re delighted to introduce our website developer and Cystic Fibrosis Queensland life member, Paul McKean.

Paul, 50, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at birth closely following his 18-month-old older brother’s diagnosis. Paul believes he was fortunate to have been assessed as in the 1970s, as testing for cystic fibrosis was rarely carried out, and this early diagnosis was what ultimately saved his life.

Receiving the treatment he needed, Paul has been fortunate to live a happy and fairly normal life – attending school, studying, working, getting married and having two beautiful children. Having been a member of Cystic Fibrosis Queensland since he was 18 years old, Paul said he is grateful for the support the organisation has offered him over the years.

“Cystic Fibrosis Queensland has been helpful in providing me with reimbursements for health-related expenses, but also in providing a support network to connect with others in the cystic fibrosis community,” he said.

After many years of steadily managing his disease, Paul’s condition began to decline in 2015, forcing him to resign from his full-time job at Queensland Health before eventually receiving a double lung transplant. During his time off, Paul decided to explore a passion of his and study a Certificate IV in web design, which is what lead him to become the developer for Trusted Care’s website.

Working alongside Trusted Care, Paul developed an easy-to-navigate website that paid homage to parent organisation Cystic Fibrosis Queensland, while also creating elements unique to the Trusted Care brand.

The Trusted Care website links back to the Cystic Fibrosis Queensland website, the NDIS website and online forms to fill out, which seamlessly guides the user experience,” he said.

“I think what Cystic Fibrosis Queensland has done has streamlined the process, which is great as applying for NDIS can be difficult.”

“Trusted Care is innovative in not only providing much needed funds to those with disabilities, but also vacating resources for those with cystic fibrosis who do not qualify for NDIS funding.”

“I think the NDIS availability for cystic fibrosis people who qualify for support, is a really positive thing because if more people can get NDIS funding, freeing up Cystic Fibrosis Queensland’s fundraised money for members who don’t meet NDIS criteria – it’s a win-win for everybody.”

Trusted Care is Queensland’s preferred NDIS provider for those living with cystic fibrosis. To learn more about what we do at Trusted Care, or find out if you’re eligible for funding, contact us here.
